I’ve read some really interesting facts this year that I can’t get out of my head including:
- Giant pumpkins can gain as much as 60 pounds A DAY at the height of the summer growing season
- Birds can lose 12% of their body weight overnight as they burn off fat stores to keep warm
- The center of a honeybee colony remains within a degree or two of 96 degrees Fahrenheit even in winter when outside temperatures can be below zero
- There are over 450 ladybug species in North America alone
- Crow roosts (when birds gather together for the night) can number in the tens of thousands, and some roosts of a million or more crows have been documented
- Several butterflies, including the Mourning Cloak, overwinter as adults, usually in tree cavities
- There is 0% chance that I can keep a bag of Doritos in the house for more than 2 days (okay, I didn’t read that, but it’s a fact)
