“It feels like we’re in a car wash.” That’s what my friend said about the wonderful and much-needed rain we received yesterday that dribbled down the window panes for hours and made giant puddles in the streets because the storm drains were so overwhelmed with falling leaves.
It was the most rain we’ve seen at one time all year and the first true rainy day since April. It was such a blessing and a relief…unless you were a bird.
All last week I had goldfinches pecking at each other and jostling for positions at the feeders, but yesterday in the rain these two little guys were nothing but cordial as they scrunched up together in a dry spot under the hopper feeder.
