I almost shredded this little gal with the lawn mower early one morning, but thankfully her transparent wings reflected some light and I spotted her in the dewy lawn just in the nick of time. I looked around for a stick and tucked it under her legs. She grabbed on and I moved her to my perennial bed where she could safely bask in the sun and dry out her wet wings.
I’m fairly certain this is a female Common Green Darner dragonfly. They are migratory and quite large.
She solarized for a couple of hours and then disappeared into the clear, blue Wisconsin sky.
