What’s that I spy in my neighbor’s hickory tree? I haven’t seen a Red-headed Woodpecker in my yard in 15 years. They are a listed as a “near threatened” species on the IUCN’s Red List.
This bird was visiting my hopper feeder and then flying off to the oaks and hickories to cache his seeds.
What a beautiful bird. I hope he sticks around.
