The cup of in-the-shell peanuts continues to be a huge hit with the Blue Jays. On one of the very cold days last week I added a few shelled, unsalted nuts to the mix as well in case woodpeckers or nuthatches needed a little energy snack. Within minutes I had my first visitor. This chickadee took a pumpkin seed:
I wish I had a video of the White-breasted Nuthatch that showed up next. He did a somersault on the bar above the cup and then grabbed a walnut meat about the size of his head and flew off.
