Nothing says spring like the noisy trill of a Chipping Sparrow. These birds are only 4 to 5 inches long with a bright, rufous cap.
Chipping Sparrows prefer to search for food on the ground, but they’ll also visit bird feeders.
If I go outside to take photographs, they are usually the first birds to resume doing whatever it was they were doing before I arrived on the scene. Like the feisty Chickadee, they don’t seem to be very concerned about my presence at all.
