I was sad when the neighbors hired a tree service to remove the giant hickory tree that sat on the lot line between our houses this summer. I worried that the birds wouldn’t visit my front yard feeders anymore if they didn’t have as much shelter. I was wrong. In fact, more birds than ever are visiting those feeders.
But what I quickly came to appreciate even more is the wide open sky to the west that now gives me a front row seat for gorgeous sunsets:
