A couple of years ago I’d never seen a Bobolink in my life. Now I can find them by sound.
According to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s All About Birds website, a Bobolink travels about 12,500 miles from South America each year–impressive for a songbird.
My friend and I spotted this Bobolink while birding in early May. I’ve only seen them in mid-summer before and this one must’ve been in for quite a shock when it arrived to such chilly, damp Wisconsin weather.
Once you hear their funny little song, it’s hard to forget it which makes finding Boblinks in the field much easier!
