It’s interesting to see birds come and go with the weather. Last week when we had a snowstorm or an icestorm—we’ve had so many lately that I can’t keep track anymore—the feeders were covered in finches. I counted more House Finches at one time than I’ve probably had collectively at my feeders over the last 10 years.
But a few days later when the weather cleared and the sun came out there wasn’t a House Finch to be found.
