This House Wren has been busy building nests in my three remaining birdhouses. Soon his mate will show up, judge his work and decide if she wants to raise a family in any of them.
Unfortunately, the chickadees that are nesting in the fourth birdhouse are not amused with this noisy little visitor and take turns chasing him around the yard.
In years past, chickadees and wrens have raised families in the houses at the same time without incident. I don’t know why these particular chickadees are so territorial, but there is a lot of scolding and dive-bombing going on in my backyard these days.
