Even after growing them for 5 years now, I still can’t get used to the size of the flowers on ‘Moonstruck Marigold’ plants. They’re huge (almost 5 inches across)!
The bushy plants only grow about 15 inches tall and are covered with blooms all summer long.
Because there are so many petals crammed into those large flowers, the Japanese beetles don’t bother them—they can’t burrow into them to chow down like they do with my tall marigold cultivars.
I even put some ‘Moonstruck Yellow’ marigolds in a barrel in partial-shade this summer. They are growing like gangbusters even though they are under a roof overhang and I often forget to water them.
