For several years I sprouted ‘Magellan Orange’ zinnias from seed but very few of them ever made it into my flowerbeds. When it came time to choose which zinnias to plant I always overlooked them. I guess I’m not the biggest fan of orange flowers.
I stopped buying the seeds for a few years, but this year I gave them a try again and some actually made it into a flowerbed!
‘Magellan Orange’ zinnias grow 12 to 14 inches tall with 5-inch pumpkin-orange flowers. My plants are growing in part-shade and that lack of sun hasn’t slowed them a bit.
Bees and butterflies love the flowers which will keep coming until frost if you keep the plants deadheaded.
