I read a report from a birder online before I heard my first one, but the Sandhill Cranes are returning to Wisconsin for breeding season. It’s a definite sign of spring!
I try to write down the date when I hear my first Sandhill each year. I missed last year, but in 2018 I heard the first bird flying over on March 12th. And in 2016 it was March 7th. This year it was March 4th.
