More migrating birds are showing up every couple of days. The latest one to visit the feeders is a Chipping Sparrow.
Chipping Sparrows are common in southern Wisconsin, but for some reason I only see them in my neighborhood in the early spring.
Here’s a fun fact about Chipping Sparrows from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s All About Birds website: “Chipping Sparrows typically build their nests low in a shrub or tree, but every once in a while they get creative. People have found their nests among hanging strands of chili peppers, on an old-fashioned mower inside a tool shed, and on a hanging basket filled with moss.”
