Fantastic Phlox

‘Ferris Wheel’

It’s been a great year for perennial phlox. All of my cultivars are blooming heavily this year, and so far not a single plant has powdery mildew.

The salmon-pink ‘Ferris Wheel’ (above) and reddish-pink ‘Red Riding Hood’ (below) are even thriving in part-sun. Both get just a couple hours of full sunlight each day and then high shade for the rest of the day.

Last week I realized I hadn’t seen ‘Spinners’ yet this year, so I went searching for it. My Baptisia ‘Purple Smoke’ plant got a little of control this spring and buried ‘Spinners’ so I had to cut an opening for it. I’ll move it next spring.

And my compact ‘Junior Dream’ plant is also looking good in part-shade.
