Sweet Relief!

THIS is what a zinnia looks like when it’s smiling. We finally got some relief from the extreme drought. And the storms that rolled through last Thursday night were predicted to be severe, but thankfully by the time they reached us in the middle of the night they had less oomph. We heard the wind whipping but the next morning there was no tree or plant damage.

This is the first measurable rain my homegrown seedlings have seen since 48 hours after I put them in the ground in the 3rd week of May. Let’s just say that the next water bill is going to be a heart-stopper.

While I’ve kept them alive with regular watering, nothing compares to water from the sky. Some of my plants looked to be an inch or two taller already the next afternoon.
