Roaming Rudbeckias

I have rudbeckias popping up all over my front yard flowerbed and I don’t remember planting any in the last several years. These have either sprouted from dormant seeds that suddenly came to life, or were planted by birds.

They all look like cultivars I have grown in the past. The one above is most likely ‘Indian Summer’.

And I’m pretty sure this one is ‘Cherokee Sunset’.

But this next one has me baffled.

I remember sprouting a red rudbeckia cultivar from seed within the last 10 years, but the name escapes me, and if I recall it didn’t do very well so I never grew that one again. Whatever this mystery rudbeckia is, it has very pretty purplish-red flowers and grows about 2 feet tall. This plant is thriving under an oak tree but gets late afternoon sun.

Usually bunnies mow down my rudbeckias which is why I don’t plant as many of them anymore. But for some reason, the bunnies have left all of these volunteer plants alone.
