Join me as I take a trip through the alphabet from A to Z and showcase some favorite plants that I’ve grown in my flowerbeds over the last 30 years!
I’m cheating a little bit here because I grow my hyacinths indoors rather than outdoors. Having spring bulbs blooming in a windowsill in February and March is a huge pick-me-up, and hyacinths are easy to force if you have a little space in a refrigerator (like a crisper drawer). You can pot up the bulbs so the tops are just sticking out of the soil, water them thoroughly and then let them chill for 12 to 15 weeks. Then bring them out, adjust them to the light for a day or two and stick them in a sunny window. You’ll be amazed how fast they grow. Instant spring!
