I found the cutest little purple watering can planter at a garden center this spring, and I decided some hot pink flowers would really pair nicely with it. Sunpatiens ‘Compact Deep Rose’ caught my eye at the garden center.
This Proven Winner impatiens grows 16 to 30 inches tall in part-sun to full sun conditions. My plant persevered through a severe drought and 90-degree temperatures even though it received the most sun during the hottest part of the day. And it continued blooming heavily until frost.
On two occasions I forgot to include it in my watering rounds and it drooped so badly I thought I’d killed it. But after a good soak the plant became re-animated (like Señor Don Gato, hahaha!).
I was so impressed with the performance of this plant that I may also include a couple of Sunpatiens in my backyard flowerbeds next summer!
