More long-blooming Annuals

Here are more long-blooming annuals that have lasted long into fall in my garden this year.

The ‘Lady in Red’ salvias fed hungry migrating hummingbirds throughout September into mid-October:

Snapdragons like cooler weather, so our mild fall has been perfect for these ‘Rocket’ series snapdragons:

These ‘Blue Horizon’ ageratums have been blooming since mid-June. They continued to thrive throughout October even though the sun was at such a low angle that they were in the shade for most of the day:

Several flowering tobacco plants (nicotiana) self-seeded in the lawn outside our garden gate in late summer, but they didn’t flower fast enough to beat the frost. Some of the plants I transplanted into the garden in May are still blooming.

The petunias had a rough time with the flooding rains throughout May and June, but came into their own in late summer. Petunias can handle temperatures in the upper 20s (F), so they are still going strong.

The lavender flower is ‘Tidal Wave Silver’ and the bi-color pink blooms are ‘Opera Supreme Raspberry Ice’:

And it’s not an annual, but I always forget that my ‘Rosalie Figg’ iris likes to bloom in the fall. I found these flowers just before the plants were done blooming for the year:
