For the last several years I’ve grown Coreopsis ‘Ruby Kiss’ from seed for my flowerbeds.
The plants grow 46 inches tall and have airy foliage similar to cosmos.
The little flowers are white with a ruby center, and the plants bloom all summer long.
Even though they are tall, the foliage is see-through enough that you can even stick them in the middle of a flowerbed.
I was excited to learn that there’s a new coreopsis that looks a lot like ‘Ruby Kiss’ but only grows 10 to 12 inches tall. I’m going to try it this summer.
I like growing coreopsis because the plants are drought-tolerant and attract pollinators.
‘Corusco Cream-Red’ is a 2025 Fleuroselect Gold Medal winner that prefers full sun, but it will have to tolerate part-sun in my yard.
