We don’t get a lot of Purple Finches in our yard, and when they have dropped in, it’s mostly been during the fall months.
That’s why it’s been so fun to host a little flock of Purple Finches for the last few weeks. They visit the feeders every morning.
This is the male:

And this one looks like a female except for that little flush of color on the throat. So it’s possibly an immature male:

Purple Finches have a funny little warbling call that’s very loud and hard to miss.
These birds are on their way to Northern Wisconsin and Canada for the breeding season, but I’m glad they stopped in for a short visit.
