We finally hit the upper 20’s last night. Ding dong, the garden’s dead. My first clue should have been the snow showers that fell while I was mowing yesterday morning. That was a first.
Last week I walked around the yard and was surprised at how many flowers were still blooming this late in the season. Our neighbors raise honeybees in their backyard and my flowers were full of them (bees, not neighbors) frantically collecting the last pollen of the year.
Last winter was pure torture, but our summer was about as perfect as it gets. I don’t remember a year where we’ve used the air conditioner so little. We had only one day where the temperature climbed above 90 degrees, and it didn’t happen until September.
Here’s to a great growing season!
