I’m always excited to see a male Cardinal in my yard, but I especially enjoy them in the winter when their dazzling red plumage brightens up my otherwise dreary backyard.
Many female songbirds are drab, but I think female Cardinals are pretty. They have an orangish-red beak and subtle wisps of red on their crest, wings and tail.
