Time: 3:30 p.m.
Conditions: 27 degrees. It snowed a bit overnight and stopped in time for the morning rush hour. It started again around 8:30 this morning and finally stopped about 30 minutes ago. For almost 3 hours this afternoon the snow was falling quite heavily. My guess is Madison’s total will be about 5 inches. ENOUGH ALREADY! (Note: it was indeed 5.1 inches bringing our snow total for the first 11 days of December to 21.1 inches)
Observed From: The house and outside.
Notes: I’m not the only one sick of the snow. The squirrels are particularly punchy today, fighting like kids with cabin fever.
Today’s Count:
- 4 Gray Squirrels
- 6 Mourning Doves (so far). There are at least 7 others lurking somewhere
- 10 Juncos
- 1 Red-bellied Woodpecker
- 6 House Sparrows
- 2 Starlings: Oh, joy! (Yes, that’s sarcasm)
- 2 Cardinals
- 1 Downy Woodpecker
- 6 Goldfinches
- 1 Red-breasted Nuthatch
- 1 Chickadee
- 1 pooped shoveler
