Heuchera ‘Root Beer’

‘Root Beer’ is another heuchera (coral bells) that I couldn’t resist adding to my collection. This cultivar is part of the Soda Series along with ‘Ginger Ale’ and ‘Cherry Cola.’ It’s hardy in Zones 4-9.

I love heucheras. They add a splash of color to my mixed beds and borders, but unlike other perennials and annuals, I don’t have to deadhead anything to keep that color coming from spring until frost. And better yet, heucheras don’t have any pest or disease issues.

‘Root Beer’ is a small, mounded plant with red and brown (“root-beer-colored”) leaves. The plants grow about 6 inches tall and send up cream-colored flowers in summer that reach 18 inches.
