Many of my heucheras have been mowed down by a mischievous gang of tiny bunnies that are perfecting their new palates on everything in my yard right now. Fortunately I snapped a few photos of some of my heucheras back in June. Take THAT, bunnies!
Heuchera ‘Frosted Violet’ grows 12 inches tall with dusty-purple leaves and dark-green veins:
In summer, the plant sends up 30-inch stems full of tiny pink flowers. I like to plant heucheras with other partial-shade-loving plants like astilbes and hostas because the colorful leaves add a little zing to all those boring green leaves.
‘Frosted Violet’ is hardy in Zones 4-9. The plants prefer partial-shade, and while they can survive in full sun, the leaves may burn, especially if it’s 90 million degrees outside like it has been this summer.
Heucheras are easy-to-grow, carefree plants with no disease or pest issues (except for the occasional bunny attack).
