Tiny Bursts of Color

I bring this up every year, and yet I just can’t stop myself from doing it again. I love it when my coleus seedlings sprout their first true set of leaves because they start to show color, and I think it’s adorable. These are ‘Kong Mosaic’ coleus sprouts:

Kong coleus plants grow 18-24 inches tall and are happiest in shady locations. It’s especially important to give them shade during the hottest part of the afternoon or the leaves will burn. Other than that they are very easy to grow and don’t have any insect or pest issues.

When my plants are “all growed up” the leaves will darken significantly and show off a beautiful mosaic of red, green and creamy-white.
