Last weekend I went on a hike in a state park that’s located about 45 miles north of here. It was a lovely spring day, and we were in for an unexpected treat because the park was absolutely overrun with warblers, particularly Yellow-rumped (photo below) and Pine Warblers.
When warblers visit my yard they usually hang out high in the tree tops and I can only view them with binoculars or a long camera lens, but these little feathered wonders were flitting around on the ground or resting in small saplings. Many of them let us walk right up to them for a good look. Oh the pictures I could’ve taken if I had remembered to bring my camera!
I saw the first Yellow-rumped warbler in my yard yesterday, so it shouldn’t be long before all the other beautiful spring migrants appear.
