The Japanese beetles are going to be really disappointed when they hatch this summer. The winter did a number on my roses. I lost more than half of them. Even some of the Knock Out roses couldn’t hack it. And my butterfly bushes didn’t fare any better. I’m down to 3 or 4 bushes from 9.
What will they possibly destroy if they can’t munch on roses and butterfly bushes? I don’t grow hollyhocks anymore, or tall marigolds. I guess they’ll have to be content with zinnias this year. Or maybe they could just give me a break and not hatch at all this summer.
Yes, that’s a swell idea…
