Tulip season flew by very quickly this year. It was so chilly for most of spring that the bulbs stayed hidden safely in the ground. When the weather finally moderated, we jumped from daytime highs in the 50s to highs in the upper 70s in a little over a week. The tulips shot up, opened and got baked and faded in the warm sun.
My ‘Apricot Jewel’ species tulips still looked pretty good:
And some new tulip bulbs I planted last fall managed to escape the jaws of the rodents, but the medium-pink flowers don’t match what I ordered, so I can’t tell you this cultivar’s name. Thankfully it’s a pretty mistake:
