The Salsa series salvias have become one of my favorite go-to annuals in recent years. They are easy to sprout from seed and seem immune from insects and disease. And they’ve never attracted the munching jaws of rabbits.
The dark-purple blooms of ‘Salsa Purple’ blend beautifully with so many colors in the garden, but I also love the cool, lavender flowers of ‘Salsa Light Purple’:
They look awesome with fuchsia or pink flowers and really stand out next to their aforementioned sister plant, ‘Salsa Dark Purple’.
Salsa salvias grow 12 to 14 inches tall and will bloom all summer into fall if you keep them deadheaded.
I had a devil of a time finding ‘Salsa Light Purple’ seeds this year. Hopefully it was a fluke because I would like to continue growing this beauty.
