More and more migrating birds are appearing in my yard every day. The White-throated sparrows (pictured above) have been scrounging for seed under my arborvitaes for a couple of weeks now. While most of the Juncos are gone, I still spot the occasional straggler.
I heard the “drink your teaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa” call from a pair of Eastern Towhees, but it took a few days before I saw either of them. As for photos, they were having none of it. All I got this year was a “proof-they-were-here” shot. To pull it off, I had to climb on the kitchen sink to get above the window screen and then contort horizontally so I wouldn’t bonk my head on the light fixture. It really wasn’t worth all the effort:
