Time: 9 a.m.
Conditions: -8 degrees Fahrenheit with winds gusting to 30 mph (wind chill -31)
Observed from: the house and a quick run outside to toss some seed on the ground for the frozen birds and squirrels
Notes: The sun may be shining, but it’s brutal outside. The winds are howling and all the loose snow is blowing horizontally. I want to bring all the birds and animals inside to warm up (even the Starlings and squirrels–yes, that’s how bad it is!!!). The wind is gusting so violently that the birds are having a hard time staying on the feeders.

Dear Em,
I feel sorry for that poor squirrel!!! And the birds also. All look like they need some warmth. Too bad you couldn’t bring them inside to warm up.
Hope you’re staying warm and cozy by the fireplace.
