I’m going to mix it up a little bit with my petunias this year. I’m going to skip the Trilogy series because I’ve had some disappointing germination issues with them over the last couple of growing seasons. I will really miss the beautiful ‘Trilogy Red’:
I plan to stick with what are now my “old standbys”—the Opera series petunias ‘Opera Blue’ and ‘Opera Pink Morn’ because they are such lovely, carefree plants and the colors look great together:
I can’t say enough good things about the Tidal Wave series of petunias. They’ll fill a barrel, basket or pot with hundreds upon hundreds of blooms all summer long. For the last couple of years I’ve grown the gorgeous ‘Tidal Wave Hot Pink’:
This year I’m going to try ‘Tidal Wave Velour Red’ instead. I’m also going to dabble in two new colors in the Easy Wave series—the medium-pink ‘Easy Wave Pink Passion’ and ‘Easy Wave Silver’ which has white flowers with a whisper of purple in the center and subtle purple veins.
For the last several years I’ve been so impressed with the long-blooming season of ‘African Sunset’ petunias:
They grow in a partial-shade area, but this year I really want to try to grow some New Guinea impatiens from seed for that spot instead.
