I needed to replace a shabby, fading bee balm this spring, so I decided to give the new ‘Full Moon’ coreopsis a try. The light-yellow flowers started to unfurl during the last two weeks of July, nicely complementing a nearby Shasta daisy.
‘Full Moon’ grows 18 to 24 inches tall on bushy, upright stems, and the flowers are a magnet for bees, wasps, butterflies and other pollinators.
This cultivar was bred to have a long blooming season. The flowers are large for a coreopsis, and the color blends nicely with any companion you want to grow next to it. This is ‘Full Moon’ with daylily ‘Cookie Monster’:
‘Full Moon’ is hardy in Zones 5-9 (and possibly down to 4) and prefers full sun and average garden soil.
So far I’m impressed.
