A few years ago the Polar Vortex caused the demise of many of my roses, and I never replaced them. I almost bought a couple of new rose bushes last spring, but I’m glad I didn’t because the rose-loving Japanese Beetles made a bit of a comeback last summer.
I’m more about the scent with roses than I am about the color. Many of the David Austen roses have that lovely, strong old-rose scent as do some of the hybrid tea roses. Someday soon I’ll introduce a couple of replacement rose bushes back into my flowerbeds.
