I spotted more migrants yesterday. While I was stalking the Ruby-crowned Kinglets, a pair of huge birds appeared below my biggest aborvitae bushes for a split second. I didn’t even have time to focus my camera on them, but based on their size and very long tails I knew right away they were Brown Thrashers.
Brown Thrashers are more often heard than seen. They like to forage for food in dense brush. The birds flew into the oak tree above me and I was able to get a couple of lame shots of them before they took off again.
