I was skeptical about the success I’d have buying a peony from rootstock, but in the fall of 2016 I took a chance and ordered Peony ‘Moonstone’. Last year the plant grew about a foot tall with several flowers on it.
After a winter where so many perennials bit the dust, I was glad to see that ‘Moonstone’ was a survivor. And it’s starting to thrive. This year the plant is 3 feet tall with 6 blooming stalks.
‘Moonstone’ grows 32 to 36 inches tall with pink-blushed flowers that turn to creamy-white as they mature, and the fragrance is dreamy. ‘Moonstone’ is hardy in Zones 3-7.
