Beetle Blues

This is what a freshly-opened marigold bloom looks like after only one day of Japanese beetle dining:

The beetle population had been dwindling to a more manageable size over the last few summers, but this year it’s as bad as it was when they first arrived in our area. They are eating everything in sight.
