Two for the Price of One

My Northern Flicker has a companion! Yesterday shortly after the male visited the hopper feeder I noticed a second flicker pecking through seeds on the platform feeder. This bird is missing the black “mustache” on its face so it’s a female:

While these birds are still considered common, the Cornell University’s All About Birds website says their numbers declined 49 percent between 1966 and 2012 and they are currently listed as a Common Bird in Steep Decline.
