This spring I have several robins visiting my platform birdfeeders throughout the day. Last year our area experienced a couple of late-season snowstorms that put insect and fruit-eating birds in peril. So far, so good this spring.
All of our snow has melted so there are more opportunities for robins to find insects and leftover fruit on trees and shrubs, but that hasn’t stopped them from dropping by for an occasional peanut or piece of fruit.
It used to be rare for me to see or hear robins in our neighborhood, but over the last couple of years their numbers have significantly increased. Now almost every time I step outside in the spring or summer I hear a robin singing, cheeping or scolding.
