Other than some short marigolds, my cosmos have been the quickest homegrown plants to bloom so far this summer. This is ‘Sonata Purple Shades’:
I also tried a new cosmos that’s supposed to have red flowers, white flowers or red-and-white-striped flowers. I think this one got a bit confused. It’s kind of a salmon color, but I really like it—mistake or not. This is Cosmos ‘Velouette’:
And I impulse-shopped a couple of ‘Sonata Carmine’ plants this spring when I couldn’t find any seeds for that particular color. I love the rich, wine-red flowers:
