As I suspected, Petunia ‘Headliner Night Sky’ has not been able to maintain its abundance of interesting spots and blotches.
The flowers looked like this when I planted them in May:
Now the flowers have a much-more-toned-down smattering of light freckles instead:
Yes, I fertilized the plants, but probably not as often as I should have—mostly because it was so wet throughout May into mid-June.
One thing the plants do have going for them is that they are not leggy or dying out in the middle which is what happens to so many petunia cultivars.
I will step up my fertilizer routine and see if I can coax some of the blotches back before the summer growing season is over.
