Last night after supper two birds coasted overhead and landed at the very top of a neighbor’s White Oak tree. I’m used to seeing little tiny warblers so these birds looked huge in comparison.
I exclaimed “What the bloody heck is that???” out loud because apparently excessive birdwatching has made me British. What’s more embarrassing is that I didn’t see my neighbor standing outside with his dogs on the other side of the hedge. He watched me yell and run into the house like I was competing for money in a 50-yard dash.
I came back outside and fumbled with my camera just as the birds were taking flight. I barely got the lens cap off as they disappeared. Thankfully one photo turned out well enough for me to identify them….Eastern Kingbirds.
