When it’s beastly-hot outside, it’s not unusual to see crows and other black birds panting in the heat.
But it IS unusual to see them land in your arborvitaes and cling to them and spread their wings out and pant. This happened at several different times the other day in my backyard.
At one point a mom or sibling appeared to be asking, “What on earth are you doing?”
“Just hanging upside-down from this shrub, of course!”
