‘Royal Sunset’ used to be my favorite Asiatic lily/LA hybrid lily. The salmon, pink and orange flowers did indeed remind me of a tropical sunset. Even better, the flowers are splattered with little freckles.

But there’s a new kid in town that knocked ‘Royal Sunset’ off the pedestal for me. Put your sunglasses on and check out ‘Fiamma’!

I can’t put into words how gorgeous this lily is. The flowers are bursting with color—a bright tangerine with yellow-orange centers. And unlike ‘Royal Sunset’ the flowers don’t fade in the hot afternoon sun.

‘Fiamma’ is an LA hybrid lily (an Easter lily crossed with an Asiatic lily). The bulbs send up sturdy stalks that grow 3 to 4 feet tall and bloom starting in late June.

‘Fiamma’ is a knock-out lily that is hardy in USDA Zones 4-8.
