I always have a lot of questions when I see a flock of goldfinches on my platform feeders. First of all, goldfinches usually prefer my hanging feeders, so why the sudden change? Are these new-to-the-neighborhood birds? Or are the regulars just mixing it up?
I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve seen a goldfinch on my platform feeder since May. What do they know that I don’t know?
