I’m now convinced that something isn’t quite right with my forced tulips this year. I tried a new soil and perhaps it dried out too fast too many times. Or maybe it didn’t have enough nutrients for the bulbs.
I’ve forced tulips many times before and they usually come true to form (although sometimes a bit shorter). But all of my tulips so far have had very small, washed-out-looking flowers, and after a day or two of blooming the stems get tired and start to give way and those flowers droop.
This is supposed to be ‘Apricot Beauty’ but it’s more of a faded version (but still better than staring at snow piles outside, so I’ll take it!).
‘Apricot Beauty’ grows 14 to 16 inches tall with salmon-rose-colored flowers. Outside this tulip blooms in April.
