House Finches often hang out on tube feeders with American Goldfinches because both species like Nyjer and hulled sunflower seeds, but House Finches will also visit hopper and platform feeders.

They will also eat safflower, millet and black soil sunflower seeds, and you may see them on the ground snatching up seeds other birds drop from the feeders.

House Finches are very susceptible to conjunctivitis. You may notice birds with one eye closed or swollen. The disease also affects goldfinches. Clean your feeders regularly with a 10% bleach solution, and if you notice birds with conjunctivitis, consider temporarily removing your feeders to help prevent the spread of the disease.
